Location: Atlanta, GA (3 days a week onsite)
Duration: 12+ Months
Must have:
- Azure/Snowflake & AWS Migration Focus
- Python for scripting and ETL orchestration
- Azure Data Factory and Synapse Analytics (SQL Pools) & ostgreSQL, MySQL, and Oracle RDS.
- Migrating workloads Glue, EMR, Redshift, Lambda, Kinesis, S3, and MSK
- AWS Redshift, Athena, Azure Data Lake, Databricks, Pyspark, Glue, Synapse, MongoDB, Oracle B3-C120-25L
Required Qualifications:
- 9+ years in data engineering, with 3+ years on Azure and hands-on Snowflake expertise.
- Strong skills in Python (ETL scripting) and SQL (Snowflake transformations & tuning).
- Proficient in Azure Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, and AWS services (Glue, EMR, Redshift, Lambda, Kinesis, S3, MSK).
- Experience with AWS to Azure/Snowflake migration projects.
- Expertise in database migration and tuning (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle RDS).
- Familiarity with Azure Event Hubs, Logic Apps, Key Vault, CI/CD, Git, and DevOps practices.
Responsibilities:
- Design & Develop scalable data pipelines using Snowflake as the core platform, integrating with Azure Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, and AWS services.
- Build efficient SQL and Python-based data transformations for large-scale datasets.
- Lead AWS to Snowflake/Azure migration initiatives, including:
- Rebuilding AWS Glue pipelines in Azure Data Factory or Snowflake ELT.
- Migrating EMR Spark jobs to Snowflake SQL/Python.
- Migrating Redshift workloads with schema conversion and optimization.
- Transitioning S3 data lakes (Hudi/Hive) to ADLS Gen2 or Azure Blob for Snowflake external tables.
- Redirecting Kinesis/MSK streams to Azure Event Hubs with Snowflake ingestion.
- Support database migrations from AWS RDS (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle) to Snowflake.
- Architect modern Snowflake lakehouse solutions with raw, staging, curated zones, leveraging time travel, cloning, zero-copy restore, and data sharing.
- Implement automation and orchestration using Azure Functions or Logic Apps.
- Apply security best practices (Azure Key Vault, Snowflake RBAC, data masking, network policies).
- Optimize Snowflake performance and costs using clustering, multi-cluster warehouses, and caching.
- Support CI/CD for Snowflake pipelines via Git, Azure DevOps, or GitHub Actions.
- Maintain architecture diagrams, documentation, and best practices for long-term maintainability.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced experience with Snowflake Streams, Tasks, Snowpipe, external tables, and data sharing.
- Exposure to MSK-to-Event Hubs migration and streaming data integration.
- Experience with Terraform or ARM templates (IaC).
- Certifications: SnowPro Core, Azure Data Engineer Associate, or equivalent.
