Project Overview
The Department of Information Resources (DIR) seeks an experienced ETL Developer to support the Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) in developing a robust Data Integration Hub using Informatica IICS/IDMC/Power Center. The developer will be part of an Agile team supporting the design, development, automation, integration, testing, and deployment of data processes to enable performance metrics and business intelligence for internal and external use.
Core Responsibilities
- Acquire data from diverse sources for various business applications
- Develop complex SQL scripts for data transformation and dimensional modeling in Oracle
- Automate ETL processes using Informatica IICS, IDMC, or Power Center
- Collaborate with Data Engineering and Architecture teams on optimal design and integration
- Create, validate, and automate SQL scripts, Informatica jobs, and database views
- Develop Tableau dashboards and enhance a Java-based web portal
- Participate in Agile ceremonies and sprint planning
- Create technical documentation, diagrams, and specifications
- Work on design sessions and analyze changing business requirements
- Ensure secure handling of sensitive healthcare data (PII/PHI)
Project Goals
- Infrastructure configuration and setup for the HHS data integration hub
- Implementation using Agile methodology across all SDLC phases
- Performance validation, data automation, testing, and publication
- Ongoing support and enhancement of the integration platform
Candidate Skills and Qualifications
· ✅ Experience developing ETL mappings and workflows using Informatica IICS/IDMC/Power Center
· ✅ Experience acquiring and integrating data from multiple sources (Snowflake, Oracle, SQL Server, Excel, Access, Adobe PDF) for use in Tableau
· ✅ Proficiency in writing complex and efficient SQL scripts
· ✅ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in data analytics, performance management, or data warehousing projects
· ✅ Technical documentation skills with tools like Visio, Erwin, and MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
· ✅ Experience in multi-product software platform planning and delivery
· ✅ Python scripting experience
· ✅ Participation in Agile/Scrum teams
· ✅ Familiarity with JIRA for task tracking
· ✅ Strong verbal and written communication skills
· ✅ Ability to write clean, testable, and efficient code using best development practices
· ✅ Understanding of data security principles, especially in healthcare
· ✅ Familiarity with performance metrics components and business intelligence tools
· ✅ Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities independently
· ✅ Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
· ✅ Prior experience in the Healthcare industry
· ✅ Experience working with Texas HHS agencies
· ✅ Experience handling PII/PHI data
· ✅ Expertise in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JQuery, APIs for web application development
· ✅ Experience with REST/SOAP Web Services
· ✅ Experience developing dashboards and reports in Tableau, including data source connections
