Position Summary:
The Network Security Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining secure network infrastructure to protect sensitive healthcare and enterprise data. This role ensures compliance with HIPAA, HITRUST, and other regulatory standards while proactively defending against evolving cyber threats.
Key Responsibilities:
· Fortinet Security Infrastructure
· Design, configure, and maintain Fortinet firewalls, VPNs, and security fabric integrations.
· Manage FortiAnalyzer and FortiManager for centralized logging, reporting, and policy management.
· Implement and monitor FortiGate UTM features including IPS, antivirus, web filtering, and application control.
· Extreme Networks Management
· Deploy and manage Extreme Networks switches and wireless infrastructure across clinical and administrative sites.
· Utilize ExtremeCloud IQ for network visibility, policy enforcement, and performance optimization.
· Troubleshoot Layer 2/3 issues and ensure high availability and segmentation for sensitive healthcare systems.
· NAC Implementation
· Design and implement Network Access Control (NAC) solutions to enforce endpoint compliance and control access to network resources.
· Integrate NAC with identity management systems and endpoint detection tools.
· Monitor and maintain NAC policies to ensure secure onboarding of devices, including BYOD and IoMT.
· Security Monitoring & Incident Response
· Monitor network traffic for anomalies using SIEM tools and Fortinet Security Fabric.
· Respond to and investigate security incidents, including malware, phishing, and unauthorized access attempts.
· Compliance & Risk Management
· Ensure network security controls align with HIPAA, NIST, and HITRUST frameworks.
· Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and support internal/external audits.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field.
· 5+ years of experience in network security, preferably in healthcare or regulated industries.
· Strong experience with Fortinet (FortiGate, FortiAnalyzer, FortiManager).
· Hands-on experience with Extreme Networks infrastructure.
· Proven experience implementing and managing NAC solutions
· Proficient in network security protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, and VPNs.
· Familiarity with Zero Trust principles.
· Certifications such as Fortinet NSE 4+, CISSP, or CCNP Security are preferred.
