Job Title: Data Center Network Engineer
Location: Houston, TX
Onsite
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and execute data center network migrations, specifically from Arista to Juniper platforms.
- Design, document, and implement detailed network migration plans, including cable sheets, topology diagrams, and cutover procedures.
- Schedule, coordinate, and lead migration windows in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Develop and implement network automation scripts to streamline and validate migration processes.
- Configure and optimize Juniper QFX 5130 and 5120 series switches in line with best practices and business needs.
- Utilize Juniper Apstra for intent-based networking, automation, and post-migration validation.
- Configure and troubleshoot advanced routing and switching technologies including:
- BGP, OSPF
- L2 VPN, EVPN, MPLS, L3 VPN
- Route maps, filters, and policies
- Manage IPv4/IPv6 addressing schemes, including subnetting, planning, and traffic management.
- Collaborate with infrastructure teams (server, storage, applications) to ensure seamless integration and operation post-migration.
- Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including configurations, runbooks, and escalation guides.
- Provide on-call support during and after migration activities to ensure stability and quick issue resolution.
Required Qualifications:
- 8+ years of hands-on experience as a Data Center Network Engineer.
- Proven experience leading data center migrations from Arista to Juniper platforms.
- Expertise in configuring and supporting Juniper QFX series switches and Juniper Apstra.
- Strong knowledge of routing protocols (BGP, OSPF) and overlay technologies (EVPN, MPLS, L2/L3 VPN).
- Experience with network scripting and automation tools (e.g., Python, Ansible).
- Deep understanding of IP addressing, traffic management, and data center design principles.
- Strong communication and coordination skills to lead migration efforts and work across departments.
- Experience in creating technical and operational documentation.
- Willingness to support after-hours migration windows and participate in on-call rotations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Juniper certifications (e.g., JNCIP-DC, JNCIE) or equivalent.
- Familiarity with Arista EOS CLI and tools.
- Experience working in regulated environments or following change control processes (e.g., ITIL/CAB).
